Hazelmere

Part of the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, Hazelmere is a neighbourhood within Surrey, British Columbia.

Transportation

Hazelmere is very car friendly. It is very convenient to park. In contrast, the public transit service in this part of the city is quite poor. Nevertheless, property owners have access to a few bus lines. Hazelmere is not especially amenable to cycling since there are a good number of elevation changes to challenge cyclists, and there are few bike lanes. Many of the homes for sale in this part of Surrey are located in areas that are also not very conducive to walking as most daily needs are inconvenient to carry out without the use of a vehicle.

Services

There are only a few primary schools in Hazelmere and consequently they can be an extended walk away. Additionally, this area does not contain any high schools. Moreover, it can be very hard to reach daycares on foot. With respect to eating, property owners in Hazelmere typically have to turn to a car to access the nearest supermarket. Residents are served by a few restaurants and cafes as well.

Character

The character of Hazelmere is exemplified by its relaxed ambience. This part of the city is very quiet overall, as the streets are usually very tranquil. Finally, parks, including Redwood Park and 129b - Greenbelt, are very well-spread out and there are around 30 of them nearby for residents to discover, which makes it easy to reach them.

Housing

The sizeable proportion of single detached homes in the housing stock of Hazelmere is an important part of its character. Around one third of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed between 1960 and 1980, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s.
