Transportation

Driving is a great transportation option in Southwest. It is especially convenient to park. In contrast, commuting by public transit is very hard in Southwest. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not especially far-removed from most properties. It is very difficult for pedestrians to navigate Southwest because almost no daily needs can be met by walking.

Services

Some, but not all, property owners in this area will live within walking distance of the closest grocery store. As far as education is concerned, families may find it difficult to get to high schools and primary schools on foot. Moreover, there are only a very small number of daycares and thus they can be a very long walk away. Southwest is served by some of the province's highest-ranked schools, such as Westside Academy.

Character

Southwest is very quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. It is sometimes challenging to reach parks in the neighbourhood since they aren't well-spread out. Still, there are a few parks close by for residents to relax in.

Housing

Nearly 90% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners while renters occupy the remainder. Single detached homes and townhouses are the predominant housing type in this part of the city. This part of Prince George did not experience a single building boom; the construction of new dwellings in Southwest was spread throughout several decades in recent history. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
