The neighbourhood of Whonnock is part of the city of Maple Ridge, British Columbia, which is situated in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is an excellent mode of transportation in Whonnock. It is very easy to find a place to park. This neighbourhood is not especially appropriate for cycling because there is a considerable amount of slopes, and there are very few bike lanes. Many of the homes for sale in this area are located in places that are also not very well-suited for people who travel by walking because almost no common errands can be run without the use of a car.

Services

Primary schools are not plentiful in Whonnock, and therefore often beyond a short distance, and there are no high schools. Regarding eating, in all cases, a car is needed to purchase groceries.

Character

The character of Whonnock is exemplified by its calm atmosphere. Most areas in this area are especially quiet, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue. Lastly, there are a few public green spaces nearby for residents to enjoy, like Whonnock Lake and Bell Irving Hatchery, which makes them easy to reach.

Housing

Homeowners occupy about 85% of the units in the neighbourhood whereas the rest are rented. The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of this neighbourhood is an important part of its character. Roughly 30% of properties in this area were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
