This neighbourhood is a very good part of Vancouver for eco-friendly transportation options. Riley Park is especially suitable for pedestrians; most daily needs can be met without the use of a car, and a variety of businesses are reasonably close by. This neighbourhood will also attract active house buyers because it is very suitable for bicycling. More specifically, this part of Vancouver is home to reasonably good cycling infrastructure, and bike-share stations are never more than a short distance away. The public transit network in Riley Park is accessible. In contrast, driving is a rather poor medium of transportation in Riley Park since parking is not very easy.

Riley Park is a "jack-of-all-trades" when it comes to the feel of this neighbourhood. Riley Park is quiet, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic. It is easy to access public green spaces in the neighbourhood since there are a few of them nearby for residents to visit. Lastly, in general, finding things to do in this part of Vancouver is easy. Even though this neighbourhood is not known for its nightlife, there are usually lots of people around.

The majority of the housing stock of Riley Park consists of small apartment buildings and duplexes, while the remainder are mainly single detached homes. Around one third of homes in this neighbourhood were constructed before the 1960s, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1990s. This part of the city offers mainly four or more bedroom and two bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy roughly 55% of the units in Riley Park while the rest are rented.
