Hammond

The neighbourhood of Hammond is part of the city of Maple Ridge, British Columbia, which is situated in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

Moving around by car is very convenient in Hammond. It is very easy to park, and most real estate listings are a rather short car ride from the closest highway. However, this neighbourhood is not very transit friendly. Nevertheless, house owners can rely on the Maple Meadows Station Westbound and Maple Meadows Station Eastbound with access to the West Coast Express. There are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and the nearest bus stop is generally very close by. Hammond is not especially well-suited for those who like to travel by foot because few common errands can be run without a vehicle. In contrast, Hammond is fairly bike-friendly.

Services

It is very easy to get to the closest grocery store without the need for a car in Hammond. There are also a few restaurants and coffee shops in this part of the city. With respect to education, in Hammond, families will usually be able to reach schools and daycares as pedestrians. At the elementary level, there are both public and private schools.

The character of Hammond is exemplified by its calm atmosphere. It is easy to reach public green spaces in the neighbourhood since there are a few of them nearby for residents to enjoy. Most areas in this neighbourhood are very quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour.

Single detached homes are the main housing type, representing about 60% of dwellings in Hammond, but duplexes are also present in the housing stock. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Around 80% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 20% are rented. About 40% of homes in this area were built in the 1980s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s.
