Dundarave

The neighbourhood of Dundarave is part of the municipality of West Vancouver, British Columbia, which is situated in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

This part of the municipality is very car friendly. It is a rather short car ride to the closest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway, from any location in Dundarave, and finding a place to park is quite easy. However, this part of the municipality is not an especially convenient part of West Vancouver for travelling by public transit. Nevertheless, property owners have access to a few bus lines, and most houses are very close to a bus stop. Dundarave is not particularly amenable to cycling as cyclists are faced with quite a few hills, and the bicycling infrastructure is not especially comprehensive. Thankfully, there is a rather high density of cyclists. There are also relatively few pedestrians out on the streets of Dundarave, despite the fact that many daily needs are convenient to meet without a vehicle.

Services

Parents and their kids will value that no matter where their house is located in Dundarave, daycares and primary schools are nearby. In contrast, there are no high schools in Dundarave. With regards to eating, a portion of property owners in this area may be able to travel to the nearest supermarket as pedestrians, while others will need a vehicle. There are also a limited number of opportunities for those who value restaurants within walking distance. Moreover, it is convenient to reach a variety of clothing stores as a pedestrian.

Character

The character of Dundarave is exemplified by its slower-paced ambience. This part of West Vancouver is very good for those who need quiet surroundings, as the streets are very peaceful. Lastly, access to parks is very easy from a large number of locations within the neighbourhood since there are around 20 of them close by for residents to discover.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing about 55% of dwellings in Dundarave, but large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and duplexes are also present in the housing stock. About one quarter of properties in this part of the municipality were built pre-1960, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. This part of West Vancouver is primarily composed of two bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Roughly three quarters of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners while the remainder are rented.
