Chartwell

Situated within the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, Chartwell is a neighbourhood in West Vancouver, British Columbia.

Transportation

Chartwell is very car friendly. Many properties for sale are a very short drive from the closest highway, such as taylor way, and parking is generally easy. In contrast, the transit infrastructure in Chartwell is not very practical. Thankfully, homeowners are served by a few bus lines, and most houses are very close to a bus stop. Getting around by walking is not very feasible for residents in Chartwell as few daily errands can be run without a vehicle. Chartwell is also not very cycling-friendly since there are few bike lanes, and riding is made strenuous by the often sloping area.

Services

Families will welcome that wherever their house is situated in Chartwell, both primary and secondary schools are close by. However, there are only a very small number of daycares and consequently they can be a very long trip away. In terms of food, it is very rarely possible for property owners in this part of West Vancouver to shop for groceries without the use of a vehicle.

Character

Chartwell offers a relaxed atmosphere and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. There are approximately 30 public green spaces nearby for residents to check out, which makes it very easy to access them. Most areas in this area are very quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although there are still several noisier sections, especially near Trans-Canada Highway or Taylor Offramp Way.

Housing

The predominant housing types in Chartwell are single detached homes and townhouses. Although this area is particularly good for those looking for four or more bedroom homes. About three quarters of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners while the rest are rented. About 40% of properties in this part of the municipality were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s.
