City Centre

Part of the Greater Kamloops metropolitan area, City Centre is a neighbourhood within Kamloops, British Columbia.

Transportation

This neighbourhood is reasonably cycling-friendly as. It is also convenient for pedestrians to navigate this neighbourhood; running common errands is easy by walking, and various businesses are nearby. The public transit system in City Centre is not very practical. Nonetheless, there are approximately 10 bus lines, and most properties are very close to a bus stop. On the other hand, this part of Kamloops is very car friendly. Most properties for sale are a reasonably short car ride from the closest highway, such as Yellowhead Flyover, and parking is quite easy.

Services

Families will welcome the proximity to schools and daycares, which are within walking distance from vast majority homes for sale in this part of the city. Parents are served by public and private schools at both the elementary and high school level. With respect to food, a fraction of home buyers in this neighbourhood may be able to access the nearest grocery store on foot, while others will have to turn to another means of transportation. That being said, a cafe is on average a rather short walk away, for instance on Victoria Street, and a small selection of restaurants is available in City Centre as well.

Character

The character of City Centre is exemplified by its relaxed environment. It is easy to get to green spaces in the neighbourhood since there are about 10 of them close by for residents to unwind in. This neighbourhood is reasonably quiet overall, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic - however noise can be an issue closer to one of the railway lines, the airport (Kamloops (Royal Inland Hospital) Heliport), Yellowhead Flyover or yellowhead south hwy no 5.

Housing

About 40% of properties in City Centre were constructed prior to the 1960s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1990s. In this neighbourhood, roughly one third of dwellings are small apartment buildings, and the rest of the houses are mainly large apartment buildings and single detached homes. The split between renters and homeowners is about even. This neighbourhood also has a good variety of unit sizes - properties range from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
