Part of the Greater Prince George metropolitan area, Austin is a community within Prince George, British Columbia.

Transportation

Driving is an excellent mode of transportation in Austin. Parking is quite easy. In contrast, the public transit system in this area is rather poor. Nevertheless, the community is connected by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most houses. Austin is not very bicycling-friendly as there are few bike lanes, and there are a fair number of hills. Walking is also not very convenient for property owners in this community as many daily needs are challenging to carry out on foot.

Services

Some property owners in Austin may be able to travel to the closest supermarket on foot, while others will need another means of transportation. A small selection of restaurants is available in Austin as well. Regarding education, primary schools are convenient to get to on foot from most homes for sale in this part of the city. However, it can be challenging to access high schools as a pedestrian.

Character

Austin is a very good community to buy a house in for those who prefer a relaxed atmosphere. This part of Prince George is very quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Lastly, public green spaces, including Heather Road Park and Valleyview Reserve, are very well-situated and there are approximately 20 of them close by for residents to enjoy, making them easy to reach.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing roughly 60% of dwellings in Austin, but mobile homes are also present in the housing stock. Around 40% of homes in this part of Prince George were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1980s and the 1990s. This area offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy around 80% of the units in Austin whereas the rest are rented.
