Valleyview

Valleyview is a neighbourhood within Kamloops, British Columbia, which is located in the Greater Kamloops metropolitan area.

Transportation

The favoured way to move around in Valleyview is very often driving. Many real estate listings are a very short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway, and it is very convenient to park. In contrast, the public transit system in Valleyview is fairly poor. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and bus stops are ordinarily nearby. Travelling by bicycle is sometimes difficult in this part of the city as there are quite a few elevation changes, and the cycling infrastructure is not very comprehensive. Valleyview is also not very suitable for those who travel by foot as very few common errands can be run without having to use a car.

Services

Parents and their children will welcome that wherever their property is located in this area, schools and daycares are nearby. As far as food is concerned, getting to the closest supermarket on foot is practical for some, but not all, house buyers in Valleyview. Residents can enjoy around 20 restaurants and cafes as well.

Character

The character of Valleyview is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. Access to public green spaces is easy from numerous locations within the neighbourhood since there are a few of them close by for residents to unwind in. This area is also reasonably good for those who need a quiet atmosphere, as the streets tend to be quite peaceful - although that is not the case near Trans-Canada Highway, Yellowhead Offramp Highway or the railway line.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing around half of dwellings in Valleyview, while small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. This neighbourhood has a good selection of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Homeowners occupy about 70% of the properties in the neighbourhood and 30% are rented. About 45% of properties in this area were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 2000s.
