The neighbourhood of Kirkstone can be found in the municipality of District of North Vancouver, British Columbia, which is situated in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

Biking is easy in this neighbourhood because Kirkstone is home to good bicycling infrastructure. Kirkstone is also conducive to those who prefer to travel on foot; many common errands can be run without a car. Driving is a very good transportation option in Kirkstone. Most properties for sale are a very short drive from the closest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway, and it is convenient to access a parking spot. On the other hand, commuting by public transit is occasionally challenging in Kirkstone. Thankfully, residents are served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most homes.

Services

A grocery store is usually reachable within a rather short distance from anywhere in Kirkstone. Additionally, a coffee shop is commonly just around the corner, and there are also a limited number of options for those who care about close by restaurants. With respect to education, in Kirkstone, parents and their children will almost always be able to reach daycares and schools by walking.

Character

The character of Kirkstone is exemplified by its slower-paced ambience. Green spaces, including Kirkstone Park, are especially well-situated and there are a few of them nearby for residents to enjoy, making them very easy to access. This neighbourhood is also reasonably quiet, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case near Trans-Canada Highway.

In this area, roughly 30% of dwellings are small apartment buildings, while large apartment buildings and single detached homes are also present in the housing stock. Around 40% of properties in this neighbourhood were built between 1960 and 1980, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1980s and the 2000s. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes.
