Transportation

Commuting by car is very easy in South Poplar. It is very convenient to access a place to park, and the majority of properties for sale are a short drive from the nearest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway. On the other hand, public transit users may find few choices in South Poplar as a result of the infrequent service. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and most residences are very close to a bus stop. This area is not very convenient for walking because few common errands can be run without the use of a car. It is also challenging to move around by bicycle in this area as the bicycling infrastructure is not very well-developed, and the terrain is not particularly flat.

Services

Both primary and secondary schools are convenient to access on foot from any location in South Poplar. On the other hand, daycares are not very numerous and consequently tend to require a long walk to get to. As far as food is concerned, it is very rarely possible for house buyers in South Poplar to purchase their groceries on foot. Nevertheless, reaching the closest pharmacy and therefore some basic food items is usually convenient. A small number of cafes is available as well.

Character

People who prefer a calm environment will enjoy South Poplar. There are a few public green spaces nearby for residents to explore, such as Albert Dyck Memorial Park, resulting in them being easy to access from the majority of locations in this part of Abbotsford. This neighbourhood is also reasonably quiet, as the streets are usually reasonably calm - although there are still several noisier sections, especially near Trans-Canada Highway.

Single detached homes are the main housing type, representing about 55% of buildings in South Poplar, while duplexes are also present in the housing stock. About one quarter of properties in this area were built following the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s.
