Part of the Abbotsford - Mission metropolitan area, Whatcom is a neighbourhood within Abbotsford, British Columbia.

Transportation

Driving is a great transportation option in Whatcom. Many houses for sale are a reasonably short car ride from the closest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway, and it is especially convenient to come across a parking spot. However, the public transit system in Whatcom is fairly poor. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and most homes are very close to a bus stop. Whatcom is not very well-suited for walking as few day-to-day errands can be run without the use of a vehicle. It is also sometimes challenging to travel by bike in this neighbourhood because the bicycling network is rather limited, and riding is made strenuous by the often hilly topography.

Services

Some, but not all, home buyers in Whatcom will live within walking distance of the closest grocery store. A small number of restaurants and cafes can be found as well. When it comes to education, families will find that no matter where their home is located in Whatcom, schools and daycares are close by.

People who prefer a slower-paced environment will enjoy Whatcom. It is easy to get to public green spaces from the majority of locations in the neighbourhood since there are around 20 of them nearby for residents to visit. The noise levels in this area are also very low, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour.

Housing
