West Ridge

The neighbourhood of West Ridge is part of the town of Cochrane, Alberta, which is located in the Greater Calgary metropolitan area.

Transportation

West Ridge is very car friendly. It is very easy to park. The bicycle is a sometimes poor means of transportation in West Ridge as the bicycling infrastructure is not very extensive, and there are a fair number of elevation changes. A majority of the homes for sale in this part of Cochrane are located in areas that are also not very convenient for people who prefer to get around on foot as many daily needs are inconvenient to meet without a car.

Services

It is a very short trip to get to both primary and secondary schools from anywhere in West Ridge. In contrast, parents and their kids may consider it very difficult to reach daycares as pedestrians. Regarding food, in all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is required to purchase groceries. Nonetheless, reaching the closest pharmacy and thus some staple foods is generally very easy. A cafe is often just around the corner, and residents of this part of Cochrane benefit from a few restaurants as well.

Character

West Ridge is an excellent neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a calm atmosphere. West Ridge is especially quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour.

Housing

Around 80% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home while the remainder are renters. Single detached homes and townhouses are the main housing type in this area. Most housing in this part of the town was built after the year 2000, during its largest construction boom. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
