The neighbourhood of Hotchkiss can be found in the city of Calgary, Alberta, which is located in the Greater Calgary metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is an excellent means of transportation in Hotchkiss. Many houses for sale are a very short drive from the nearest highway, and the street network is fairly amenable to cars. In contrast, Hotchkiss is not very transit friendly. Walking is not very practical for property owners in this area since very few common errands can be run without a vehicle. Hotchkiss is also not particularly appropriate for biking because there are a good number of hills, and the bicycling network is not very well-developed.

Services

There are no high schools and no primary schools in this part of the city. Likewise, there are only a very small number of daycares and consequently they can be a very long walk away. As far as eating is concerned, in all cases, a vehicle is required to shop for groceries.

Character

Hotchkiss is a neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a laid-back environment. Since there are very few pedestrians, Hotchkiss remains relatively calm. Parks aren't well-situated, making it occasionally difficult to reach them. Still, residents will be able to access green spaces in nearby neighbourhoods.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing most dwellings in Hotchkiss, while small apartment buildings make up most of the remaining housing stock. This part of the city is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Around three quarters of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and one quarter are renters. Most of the housing growth in this part of Calgary has happened following the year 2000.
