Lakeland

Lakeland is a neighbourhood within Grande Prairie, Alberta, which is situated in the Grande Prairie metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is a great transportation option in Lakeland. It is straightforward to access a parking spot, and it is a rather short drive to the closest highway from any home in Lakeland. On the other hand, commuting by transit can be challenging in this neighbourhood due to the service's low frequency. Nevertheless, property owners have access to a few bus lines, and bus stops are ordinarily around the corner. This area is not particularly bike-friendly. Thankfully, it is a flat ride to most destinations, and the cycling infrastructure is rather extensive. Traveling by walking is also not very convenient for house buyers in Lakeland since many daily needs are occasionally difficult to meet without a car.

Services

In most, if not all, cases, a vehicle is needed to do groceries. When it comes to education, primary schools are very convenient to get to without a car from any location in this area. On the other hand, Lakeland does not contain any high schools.

Character

The character of Lakeland is exemplified by its slower-paced atmosphere. Lakeland is great for those who like quiet areas, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic.

Housing

Roughly 60% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home whereas renters make up the remainder. Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing around two thirds of dwellings in this area, while the rest are mainly small apartment buildings and townhouses. A majority of the housing growth in this neighbourhood has taken place after the year 2000. This part of the city is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
