Les Rivières

The borough of Les Rivières is part of the city of Québec, Quebec, which is located in the Greater Québec City metropolitan area.

Transportation

The favoured approach to navigate this area is very often driving. It is a reasonably short car ride to the closest highway, such as Autoroute Robert-Bourassa, from any home in this part of the city, and parking is easy. On the other hand, public transit users may have limited choices in Les Rivières by reason of the service's low frequency. Nonetheless, there are over 50 bus lines, and it is very easy to reach a nearby bus stop from most properties. It is convenient to commute by bicycle in Les Rivières. However, there are relatively few pedestrians out on the streets of this area, although running common errands is convenient.

Services

In Les Rivières, families will typically be able to reach primary schools and daycares on foot. On the other hand, parents may find it difficult for their children to get to high schools as a pedestrian. Families benefit from public and private schools at both the elementary and high school level. As far as food is concerned, a fraction of house buyers in Les Rivières may be able to travel to one of approximately 30 supermarkets on foot, while others will have to rely on another means of transportation. A small number of restaurants and coffee shops are available as well.

Character

The character of Les Rivières is exemplified by its slower-paced ambience. This part of the city is reasonably quiet, as the streets are usually calm - however noise can be bothersome near the airport (Héliport de Québec (Sureté du Québec)), one of the railway lines, Autoroute Laurentienne or Autoroute Charest. Finally, green spaces, such as Parc Chauveau, are very well-located and there are over 50 of them nearby for residents to unwind in, which makes it easy to access them.

Housing

In Les Rivières, most buildings are small apartment buildings, and the rest of the dwellings are mainly single detached homes. This borough is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes. The proportions of renters and homeowners are about even. Roughly one third of properties in this area were built after the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s.
