Located in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area, New Saint Laurent is a neighbourhood within Montréal, Quebec.

Transportation

Driving is usually the preferred method of transportation in this part of Montréal. It is a rather short car ride to the nearest highway from any location in this neighbourhood, and it is easy to find a parking spot. On the other hand, getting around by public transit is sometimes difficult in this neighbourhood. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is generally very close by. Walking is not very practical for property owners in New Saint Laurent because very few daily needs can be carried out without a car. On the other hand, this neighbourhood is suited for biking because the topography is rather flat, and the bicycling network is reasonably good.

Services

A supermarket is typically accessible within a very long distance from any home in this part of the city. With respect to education, daycares are very easy to access on foot from anywhere in New Saint Laurent. On the other hand, there are only a limited number of primary schools in this neighbourhood and accordingly they can be a long stroll away. Additionally, New Saint Laurent does not contain any high schools.

Character

New Saint Laurent is an excellent neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a calm ambience. This part of Montréal is especially quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Finally, greenery is not very present in this area; although, it is easy to get to parks in the neighbourhood since there are a few of them close by for residents to visit.

Housing

In this neighbourhood, about one third of dwellings are single detached homes, while the rest are mainly large apartment buildings and small apartment buildings. A majority of the housing growth in this part of Montréal has taken place following the year 2000. This area also has a good choice of housing size options; it is quite easy to find homes ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
