Transportation

Monkland Village provides house buyers with the choice between several modes of transportation. With about 10 nearby bus lines, the very good public transit infrastructure allows people to get to many destinations without needing a vehicle. A majority of the houses for sale in this area are located in places that are also especially suitable for walking; all day-to-day errands can be run without the use of a car, and various businesses are close by. Bicycling is occasionally challenging in Monkland Village because there are few bike lanes, and riding is made strenuous by the often hilly terrain.

When it comes to food, a general and a specialty grocery store is always only a very short walk away in this part of Montréal. Furthermore, there are a good number of opportunities in close proximity for those who care about restaurants and cafes. House buyers benefit from a fair number of clothing stores within walking distance, for instance along Rue Sherbrooke.

Character

Monkland Village is a good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a relaxed environment. Greenery is very present in this part of the city; it is very easy to access green spaces since there are a few of them nearby for residents to unwind in. Residents will also find that numerous streets have very good tree coverage. This neighbourhood is reasonably quiet overall, as the streets are generally peaceful - however noise can be an issue around Autoroute Décarie.

Housing

Most housing in Monkland Village was built prior to the 1960s, during its most significant construction boom. The majority of the housing stock of this part of the city consists of duplexes and small apartment buildings, and the rest of the homes are mainly large apartment buildings and townhouses. The split between homeowners and renters is about even. This area has a good variety of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
