Gohier

Located in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area, Gohier is a neighbourhood within Montréal, Quebec.

Transportation

Gohier allows property owners to travel by several alternative modes of transportation. This area is very transit friendly. More specifically, rapid transit stations, such as Du Collège Station and Côte-Vertu Station on the Ligne 2 - Orange, are typically around the corner from the majority of residences in the neighbourhood. The neighbourhood is served by approximately 30 bus lines, and it is especially convenient to find a nearby bus stop from most properties. Many of the houses for sale in this neighbourhood are located in places that are also rather conducive to pedestrians; carrying out daily needs is convenient without a vehicle, and plenty of businesses are reasonably close by. Gohier is fairly cycling-friendly because there are a limited number of slopes for cyclists to brave.

Services

It is a very short distance to access schools and daycares from anywhere in Gohier. Families have the option of public and private schools at both the elementary and high school level. As far as food is concerned, it is very often possible for home buyers in Gohier to purchase general and specialty groceries as pedestrians. Likewise, Gohier is a good place in which to go out to eat or go to a cafe, for instance along Boulevard Décarie.

Character

Despite the somewhat busy feel, there are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Gohier. More specifically, it is very easy to get to parks in the neighbourhood since there are a few of them nearby for residents to visit. Most sections of this neighbourhood are very calm and quiet, but some other areas can be noisy, especially closer to one of the railway lines, Autoroute Métropolitaine or Autoroute Décarie.

Housing

Gohier did not experience a single building boom; the construction of new buildings in this neighbourhood was spread throughout several decades in the twentieth and twenty-first century. Large apartment buildings are the most common housing type, representing around half of dwellings in this part of Montréal, and the rest are mainly small apartment buildings and duplexes. The proportions of homeowners and renters are about even. This neighbourhood offers mainly three bedroom and two bedroom homes.
