Desjardins

The borough of Desjardins is part of the city of Lévis, Quebec, which is situated in the Greater Québec City metropolitan area.

Transportation

Getting around by car is very easy in Desjardins. The majority of real estate listings are a rather short drive from the closest highway, such as Autoroute Jean-Lesage, and it is convenient to come across a place to park. However, the public transit service in Desjardins is fairly poor. Thankfully, there are about 30 bus lines passing through the borough, and the nearest bus stop is generally just around the corner. Desjardins is amenable to cycling. This part of the city is not particularly conducive to those who travel by foot since most day-to-day needs are occasionally difficult to carry out by walking.

Services

Parents and their kids will find that no matter where their home is located in this area, schools and daycares are close by. Apart from public schools, there are private elementary and secondary schools. With regards to food, a portion of home buyers in this part of Lévis may be able to travel to one of approximately 10 supermarkets on foot, while others will have to use another means of transportation. A small number of restaurants and coffee shops can be found as well.

Character

Home buyers who prefer a relaxed atmosphere will enjoy Desjardins. There are over 50 parks close by for residents to unwind in, such as La Grande Plée-Bleue and Parc les Écarts, which makes them easy to get to from a large number of locations within the borough. This part of Lévis is also very good for those who prefer a quiet atmosphere, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic.

Housing

In Desjardins, around 45% of dwellings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings make up most of the remaining housing stock. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Around 55% of the population of this borough own their home and the rest are renters. This borough did not experience a single building boom; the construction of new buildings in Desjardins was spread throughout multiple decades in the twentieth and twenty-first century.
