La Cité

Located within the Ottawa - Gatineau metropolitan area, La Cité is an urban village within Gatineau, Quebec.

Transportation

Physically active people will be pleased with the reasonably pedestrian-friendly character of this part of Gatineau; many daily needs are convenient to carry out by walking. A good number of residents in the area use their bicycle because it is an even ride to most destinations, and the cycling network is fairly good. La Cité is very car friendly. It is convenient to park, and it is a short car ride to the nearest highway, such as Autoroute de l'Outaouais, from anywhere in La Cité. In contrast, public transit users may find limited choices in La Cité by reason of the low service level. Nonetheless, there are a multitude of rapid transit stations on the Rapibus 400, Rapibus 800 and Pré Tunney. House owners have access to approximately 10 bus lines, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most residences.

Services

It is a short walk to access primary schools and daycares from anywhere in this urban village. In contrast, parents may find it challenging for their children to reach high schools on foot. With respect to food, the nearest supermarket in this part of the city is typically only a short walk away. Residents benefit from over 50 restaurants and cafes as well.

Character

La Cité is very quiet overall, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue.

Housing
